How do I put files on the MicroSD memory card for my cell phone?

I just bought a SanDisk microSD/TransFlash compatible 1.0 GB memory card for my Samsung Katalyst phone. It came with an adapter which I was able to use to mount the card on my desktop. I tried it on two computers, a Mac and a PC. I was unable to modify or put files on the disc with either computer. The PC said it could not copy files onto the disk because it is "write-protected" and that I need to turn off the write-protection (I have no clue what that is or how to turn it off) or use a different disk. On the Mac it said that files couldn't be moved onto the disk because it could not be modified. Please help! I just want to put music and/or picture files onto the memory card so I can have them on my phone, how can I do this with the memory card I have?

There should be a tiny switch on the side of the card that says lock, toggle the switch. This should solve your problem. Let us know if this works.
