Cascading Switches

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

To add LNB's or receivers, we can cascade switches with LNB's

A cascade is done when one switch is connected to another switch... That's a cascade... Each cascade will double the downstream options... so by adding 2 cascaded switches, that can potentially give you 4 x 2 x 2 = 16 LNB's

To double up on receivers, you need to use multi switches or trunked DP34/DP44 switches... SW44's and SW64's may also be trunked.. but it's not worth the cost or effort.. switch to DP LNB's and switches if you need more than what the stand-a-lone Legacy SWxx switches offer..

2x4 Multi switches will also work on Dish Pro LNB's... but only one cable to the 13v input is required...

eg...

DN SW21 cascaded to a DP34 and/or a DP44 cascaded to a DP Twin LNB

or a Diseqc cascaded to an SW22, then to the LNB's

Some of the proven cascade sequences are:

Dishpro LNB's

any DP LNB -> DP34/DP44/DP33/Diseqc -> DN SW21 -> Ecoda EC2111 SW22 -> STB

DP Twin LNB -> diseqc -> STB ( not a true cascade as the Diseqc will overrule the built-in switch of the DP Twin)

DP Twin LNB -> (both sides) Ecoda EC2111 SW22 -> STB

DP Twin LNB -> (both sides) EMP-Centauri Profi Line P.162-IW SW22 ( NEW ) -> STB

DPP Twin -> DP Plus Separator -> DPP IRD/STB (currently, for FTA, a DP Plus Separator (DPPS) works with only with a Sonicview 360 Elite)

DPP Twin -> DP44 -> DP Plus Separator -> DPP IRD/STB (currently, for FTA, a DPPS works with only with a Sonicview 360 Elite)

any DP LNB (non-DPP LNB) -> DP33 -> DP Plus Separator -> DPP IRD/STB (currently, for FTA, a DPPS works with only with a Sonicview 360 Elite)

DP Twin LNB -> DN SW21 -> STB

Legacy LNB's

Legacy Twin LNB -> DN SW21 -> IRD/STB (may only be used on an STB that has a Legacy Twin LNB as an LNB choice in setup)

Legacy Twin LNB -> Ecoda EC2111 SW22 -> STB

Legacy Twin LNB -> Diseqc -> STB

Legacy LNB -> any Multiswitch -> Diseqc -> STB

Legacy LNB -> any Multiswitch -> Diseqc -> DN SW21 -> STB

Legacy LNB -> 2 x4 Multiswitch -> any SW22 -> Diseqc -> DN SW21 -> STB

Legacy LNB -> 2 x4 Multiswitch -> Diseqc -> DN SW21 -> Ecoda EC2111 SW22 -> STB

Legacy LNB -> any SW22 -> Diseqc -> STB

Legacy LNB -> Diseqc -> DN SW21 -> STB

Legacy LNB -> Diseqc -> Ecoda EC2111 SW22 -> STB

Legacy LNB -> Diseqc -> EMP P.162-IW SW22 -> DN SW21 -> STB

Legacy Twin LNB -> (both sides) EMP-Centauri Profi Line P.162-IW SW22 ( NEW ) -> STB

Legacy LNB -> SW42 -> DN SW21 -> IRD/STB

Legacy LNB -> SW44 -> Ecoda EC2111 SW22 -> STB

Legacy LNB -> SW44 -> EMP-Centauri Profi Line P.162-IW SW22 -> STB

Legacy LNB -> SW44 -> DN SW21 -> IRD/STB

Legacy LNB -> SW64 -> Ecoda EC2111 SW22 -> STB

Legacy LNB -> SW64 -> EMP-Centauri Profi Line P.162-IW SW22 -> STB

Legacy LNB -> SW64 -> DN SW21 -> IRD/STB

To join DishPro and Legacy Systems, only the EMP-Centauri Profi Line P.162-IW or the Ecoda EC2111 SW22 may be used in the cascade (no other SW22's will work in these examples)

Any DPP LNB -> SW22 <- SW21 <- Legacy LNB

Any DPP LNB -> DP44 -> SW22 <- SW21 <- Legacy LNB

Any DPP LNB -> DP44 -> SW22 <- SW44 <- Legacy LNB

Any DishPro LNB -> DP34 -> SW21 ->SW22 <- SW64 <- Legacy LNB

Any DishPro LNB -> DP44 -> SW21 ->SW22 <- SW64 <- Legacy LNB

Any DishPro LNB -> DP44 -> SW22 <- SW44 <- Legacy LNB

Any DishPro LNB -> DP44 -> SW22 <- SW64 <- Legacy LNB

Any DishPro LNB -> DP34 -> SW22 <- SW44 <- Legacy LNB

Any DishPro LNB -> DP34 -> SW22 <- SW64 <- Legacy LNB

the above are just some of the many examples... all the various combo's are much too numerous to include here... but hopefully, you get the picture...

Note:

All DPP LNB's are multi satellite LNB's, either 2 or 3 sats with an optional 3rd or 4th sat respectively.... each DPP LNB has built in switches that allow either 2 or 3 outputs , as is, with no other switches required.

As far as DishPro or DishPro Plus Twin LNB's go... 2 cables, one for each sat (port 1 & 2), must be connected to any Diseqc/DP switch...

The various 3 sat DPP LNB's require 3 cables to a diseqc/DP44 switch, one cable for each sat... The additional sat input on any DPP LNB is then disabled.

The DP34/44 switches will NOT pass any other switch commands to an LNB, but they may be preceded by any other switch(s) that will pass diseqc commands... ie a DN SW21.... and/or an Ecoda EC2111 SW22, both sides... or a Chieta WD2001 SW22, but on the 0KHz/OFF side only.

Legacy Twins only require 1 cable for both sats when connected to a regular diseqc switch, as a regular Diseqc switch will pass SW21 commands...

The Default pass thru port for an SW21 is Dish 1 and for an SW22, it's the 0KHz/OFF side.. What this means is that if no switch settings are selected.. The LNB signal, as sensed by the STB, will be one that is connected to the default ports.

Auto setup STB's will usually only see the default port sides of any cascaded switch setup... ie they will see a DP44's 4 diseqc ports for a DP44 on the default Dish 1 side of an SW21... but will not pick up a DP44 that is connected to the SW21's Dish 2 port... that then has to be added manually in setup.
