How to connect Receiver to dial up.
steps i took to make receiver connect through dial up internet
with windows xp
1) You have to set your computer up so that it will share internet connection
to do this bring up your dial up connection and then right click on you connection,then click on properties when that page opens put a check mark in the box that says file and printer sharing for microsoft networks.after you done that click on the advanced tab at the top of the page.then another page will open put a check mark in the box that says allow other networks to connect through this computers Internet connections.then once you have that done go to the bottom of that page and click on network setup wizard.run the set up wizard and complete all of the steps in the wizard.once you have finish the setup wizard on the page where you checked off allow other networks to connect through this computers network connection click on the settings box this will put you into the setting check off the following dhcp(67),dhcp(68),upnp(tcp),upnp(vdp)and web server(http)then close your setting.then go into your computers fire wall and turn this off if you have an antivirus you can leave the firewall on in the antivirus settings but make sure the computers fire wall is off or it will not work.once you have completed these steps your computer is now ready to share connection.
2) You must have a cat5 crossover ethernet cable an ordinary cat 5 cable will not work.this can be bought at radio shack or any computer store.
3) Have your receiver receiver turned off and plug one end of the crossover cable in the back of your receiver and the other in the back of your computer have your computer on line.
4) Now turn your receiver back on,your receiver will now acquire a ip address
5) All other setting for your receiver are the same as in the easy setup guide
6) You will be watching tv with dial up connection,your computer must remain online to watch tv.
I hope this helps out all the people who cannot get any other Internet services other than dial up.
