Difference between AMD and INTEL platforms and which one is better for gaming?

I am a little confused on which platform should i choose for my new motherboard. AMD or INTEL.i am more into gaming and looking for cheaper options. i reside in India. which of them is cheaper?

AMD is much less expensive, at least in the USA

I believe or have been told AMD is cheaper but Intel is much much better... for games, Intel hands down

AMD is generally the best option for value.They have always had a MUCH better priceerformance ratio than Intel.But keep in mind the Graphic adapter is MUCH MORE IMPORTANT than the CPU for determining Gaming ability.

Intel is better, but MUCH more expensive. You get more GHz per dollar with AMD would be an oversimplified way to put it. Games are more graphics intensive than CPU intensive. If your budget is unlimited, then go Intel. Otherwise, get AMD, and put that savings into a better graphics card.
