Is there ANY place at all the Intel Core 2 Extremes shine much brighter compared to the i7 cores, the laptop versions, even with turbo boost? Maybe multi-threading and CPU-reliant programs? Any area at all or is the i7 really a complete and whole upgrade?

I just bought the AMD Phenom II X4 945, but it is NOT the Black Edition. I believe it is 3GHz. The Motherboard is the Asus M2A-VM and the 5001 BIOS will be in it.Now, does the 5001 BIOS let me overclock the PIIX4 945 I just bought, or does it HAVE to be the Black Edition? :(
