WOODCLIFF LAKE, N.J. —
A yellow school bus carrying 14 children crashed into a guard rail on the Garden State Parkway early Tuesday morning, causing seven minor injuries.

The Office of Emergency Management stated school bus veered off course, crash into a guard rail and into the wooded area lining the parkway.

The accident happened just after 7:20 a.m. on the Garden State Parkway's southbound lane near Exit 171.

At least six ambulances were on the scene and all 14 children are expected to be transported to area hospitals for evaluation. The OEM stated seven of the children suffered minor injuries.

Reports say another vehicle may have crashed into the bus, causing it to go into the woods.

The bus is registered to Chestnut Ridge Transportation Inc, which is based out of Spring Valley. It was not immediately known which school the bus was heading to.

There are reports of delays of up to two miles from the crash on the Garden Sate Parkway.

Frank Davis of the New Jersey State Police said concerned parents who believe their child was on the bus should call the State Police to find out which hospital the child was transported to.

But reports say the students were transported to Valley Regional Hospital in Woodridge.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is underway.
