Dummies Guide To Setting Up Your Vs9000 Hd & MaxHD

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Before you start, if you don't already have a USB memory stick, go buy one, they are required at this time to load the software. Loader2 works for some, but its risky and a better idea to get a USB stick, you'll be happier in the long run loading software without having to hook up a cable and use a loader.

***NEVER have the receiver power on while you're changing switches or connecting the satellite cable. It can cause a short. Always switch the power off at the back of the receiver before disconnecting the satellite cable in any spot***

Install the DISEqC switch that came with your receiver, don't use a dish SW21 switch as they are known to have problems with this receiver. Not sure about the other dish switches.

***Note - Many of the DISEqC switches that came with the 9000 are cheap and not working with the 9000, if you have problems getting all the channels after multiple scans even though an older FTA box works fine, or you're just starting and you know you have a strong signal on the correct satellite but arent getting all the channels after trying different settings, you should buy a higher quality switch from one of the site supporters

Now you're ready to connect the receiver and turn it on.

After you've got it set up and turned on, go back to your computer and find the latest VS9000HD software fix. Its below this section, in a file section. The latest one is the one with the highest last few numbers, and usually at the top of the posts.

Unrar it with winrar to your desktop.

Now plug in your USB memory stick to your computer, if its the first time, windows will install drivers for it.

Now find it in your mycomputer, it will be a new drive letter.

Right click it and choose to format it, and choose FAT32.

Once its formatted, you can just open the drive and drop the new fix into the drive folder.

Once its finished transferring, remove the memory stick and stick it in the front of your receiver.

The receiver should say FAT32 etc in a window. Click exit.

Now go into the MENU and scroll down to SYSTEM INFORMATION, and choose Receiver Upgrade.

Scroll down to USB, and select the new fix.

It will upgrade and turn itself off and back on a few seconds after it turns off.

Now that its back on, with the latest fix, go into satellite installation and set it up.

Once you put the correct switch for the correct dish, and set the correct type of LNB, you're ready. Exit and save.

Go to AUTO SCAN, scroll down to SCAN START, and press OK.

Often the first scanned satellite will need to be rescanned to get all the channels.

Once that is complete, and you've got your channels, set your time settings, and then go to EPG SETTINGS, and at the top it says "PRESS OK" so you press ok.

It takes a few minutes but its collecting many days of guide info.

Once you've got your sat and guide set up. You're ready to watch tv!!!

PS. If it keeps recognizing 119 as 110 or visa versa, (or if it sees 82w as 91w, etc, etc) you're switch is not compatible. Also if you arent getting all the channels after multiple scans, you're switch is probably not compatible.

If you are having problems getting all the channels, go up to a computer store or ebay or one of the sponsors, and buy a better switch.

ALSO If you have more than 4 dishes, you will need to find out what works and what doesn't with the 9000, check the forum.

A patch is apparently in the works for the switch problems but for now some work and some dont..

If anyone has anything to add just say something and Ill add it.

Or if you have any problems, ask away.
