Oshkosh showcases new vehicle
OSHKOSH, Wis., (UPI) -- Oshkosh Defense showcased its SandCat Mine-Protected Light Patrol Vehicle at the Eurosatory defense industry exhibition in France, the company announced.

The SandCat, uses advanced composite armor materials and a blast-management system to protect its 4-6 passengers from land mines and improvised explosive devices while allowing optimal cabin space.

Standard armoring is integrated into the vehicle design; an option kit to increase protection can be mounted onto the vehicle while in the field.

Oshkosh Defense said the multipurpose, all-terrain vehicle has a maximum governed speed of more than 74 mph, a 116-inch wheelbase and a turn radius of 19.7 feet.

To date, Sweden, Bulgaria, Canada and Israel have placed orders for the SandCat.

"We pursue programs around the world, and international militaries continue to show interest in our advanced vehicle platforms that meet varying payload, protection and performance requirements," said Ron Ziebell, Oshkosh Corp. vice president and general manager of Defense International Programs, said in a news release.

Oshkosh Corp. is the parent company of Oshkosh Defense.
