Canada's new government will outline its policies and priorities on June 3, soon after the newly elected Parliament opens up, local media said on Monday.

The government's inaugural speech is bound to include many of the campaign promises that won Conservative Prime Minister Stephen Harper his first majority government. A federal budget, expected to be mostly the same as the budget the Conservatives unveiled in March, could follow in the following week.

That budget never passed, because opposition parties teamed up to bring the government down. Now that the Conservative have a majority in Parliament, their budget will pass.

The Conservatives promise to eliminate the budget deficit in several years without tax hikes, as well as to crack down on crime. The government also plans to end the Canadian Wheat Board's monopoly on wheat and barley exports and has previously enacted a reduction in the corporate tax rate to 15 percent as of next year, from 16.5 percent now.
