A Charlottetown provincial court judge has found a Covehead man guilty in connection with an armed standoff, saying his evidence didn't make a lot of sense.

Judge Nancy Orr said Friday she didn't believe the testimony of Joel Clow, 41, who was found guilty of uttering threats, assault and possession of an unregistered firearm during a three-hour standoff with police outside his house last March.

Clow denied the charges.

Orr said Clow was cagey and cunning in dealing with investigators, including lying to police about having a gun in the house.

Clow will be sentenced August 17.
