    What is the role of Asus or MSi or any other company in selling motherboards with Intel or AMD chipsets ?

    Can't Intel or AMD themselves sell motherboards with their chipsets, or is there any other thing in this area that I need to know. Also, what is the basic difference between a chipset and a motherboard ?
