2 pounds of pot found floating in river

LAWRENCE, Mass., -- A Massachusetts member of the Clean River Project said he discovered a trash bag full of marijuana while cleaning the Shawsheen River in Lawrence.
Rocky Morrison, a six-year veteran of the project, said he was cleaning the river Sunday afternoon when he discovered the trash bag of marijuana floating on the surface of the water, The (North Andover) Eagle Tribune reported Tuesday.
"Every day we go out on the river we never know what we'll find," Morrison said. "This was unusual."
Police estimated the street value of the marijuana at about $2,000.
"It was not high-quality marijuana, and could have been part of a drug rip," Lawrence police Chief John Romero said. "Possibly some parent found it in their kid's room and wanted to get rid of it."
