An Alberta man has been arrested following a shooting incident outside a nightclub in downtown Vancouver early Sunday morning, police say.
Police allege the man, 32, pulled out a handgun and fired several shots during an argument with the doorman of the Barcelona Lounge on Granville Street.
The doorman, 39, was hit in the leg and taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries.
The suspect fled the scene, but police officers and several bystanders chased him down and apprehended him on the street, police said in a statement.
The suspect, whose name has not been released, but is described as known to police, is in custody and could face numerous weapons and assault-related charges.
"We were fortunate that no one else was seriously injured," said Const. Lindsey Houghton.
"These brazen acts of violence have no place in our society. No one goes to work expecting to be shot, and we wish the victim a very speedy recovery."
