In today's economy, it can be tough to find a job. But chances are you've already got one -- if you're a white, college-educated woman over the age of 25.

For that group, unemployment was just 4% last year, or less than half the national average.

But other folks aren't nearly as lucky. Some groups are still suffering from unemployment in the double digits. For example, black teenage boys who haven't finished high school are faced with one of the biggest uphill battles, with a shocking 49.5% unemployment rate.

Yes, economic conditions matter. But your gender, your age, your level of education and the color of your skin can have an even bigger effect on your position in the labor force.
