-- An anti-abortion activist plans to announce Thursday that he will challenge President Barack Obama in the Democratic primary next year.
Randall Terry, who founded Operation Rescue, has scheduled a news conference for 11 a.m. ET at the nation's capital.
"My constituency is the millions of pro-life advocates who want to make child killing illegal from conception until birth," he said in a statement.
"My base is those who know that we must show Americans the victims of abortion, in order to restore the full protection of law to unborn babies."
Terry will also announce plans to run television ads showing aborted babies during the Super Bowl broadcast next month and throughout the primary.
The activist is one of the nation's most well-known anti-abortion protesters.
"You can go to any doctor's office and get an ultrasound and see a 10-week baby sucking her thumb and so to say that we're not sure if this is a human life, no one's buying it anymore," he told CNN in 2004. "That's why the data is on our side and we will prevail."
Terry has also denounced homosexuality, infidelity, birth control, divorce and unwed mothers.
