Armstrong's team faces jersey discipline
AIGLE, Switzerland, Lance Armstrong's Team RadioShack has been targeted for a disciplinary hearing for wearing inappropriate jerseys, cycling officials said Monday.

The International Cycling Union said in a release from its Aigle, Switzerland, headquarters that Armstrong's team could be subject to fines because of the delays caused before Sunday's final stage of the Tour de France.

Officials held up the race as they made team members remove the unapproved jerseys.

"Team RadioShack's incorrect behavior led to a 20-minute delay to the start of the final stage, which could have disrupted the televised coverage of the race, placing the (UCI) under the obligation to impose a fine on each rider and the team managers," the statement said.

Team members had planned to ride into Paris wearing black jerseys commemorating cancer victims, but the UCI said they had not gained prior approval, which "could have been done whilst remaining within the rules."

The cycling body said it would hold a disciplinary hearing for Team RadioShack Manager Johan Bruyneel, whose Twitter comments accused race commissioners of lacking "brains," CNN reported.
