Bribery suspect threw $320,000 from car
MOSCOW, (UPI) -- Authorities in Russia said an official under investigation on bribery allegations threw $320,000 from the window of his car on a busy Moscow street.

Police said Boris Simonov, a deputy department head with the agency's Moscow and Oka rivers branch, threw the Federal Security Service money, which was marked by the service, while fleeing investigators Thursday, The Moscow Times reported Monday.

Officials said Simonov and his immediate superior, Roman Postnikov, agreed to accept the money in exchange for nixing an investigation into a fishing company.

Simonov, whose sport utility vehicle collided with another car while he was throwing the money, was arrested and police said they were able to recover all but $32,000 of the marked money.

Simonov and Postnikov, who was arrested in a separate operation, each face up to 12 years in prison if convicted on large-scale bribery charges.
