HUNTINGTON BEACH -- Police are investigating the poisonings of 3 children who ate cookies laced with marijuana.

On Wednesday, the step-father of one of the children accepted the cookies as a gift from a neighbor, Jason Davis, a 40-year-old Huntington Beach resident, according to police and neighbors.

The parent was unaware the cookies contained marijuana.

The parent set the wrapped cookies aside as an early holiday gift.

Later in the afternoon, the parent's son and his two friends came home from school and ate the cookies.

They then went to the park to play.

All three children returned to their individual homes a short time later vomiting, complaining of headaches and feeling dizzy and lethargic.

"The child had a headache, uncontrollable vomiting and was pretty sick," Lt. Russel Reinhart of the Huntington Beach Police Department said.

Jason Davis called the police department and responded to the hospital when he found out the children had consumed the cookies.

Davis was apparently aware the cookies contained marijuana when he gave them to his neighbor.

All three children have been released from the hospital.

At this time, no arrests have been made but the investigation by the Huntington Beach Police Department is ongoing.
