EDMONTON (AP)—Tye Fields knocked out Nicolai Firtha early in the sixth round of their heavyweight fight Saturday night at the River Cree Resort and Casino.
Fields, a 6-foot-8, 264-pound southpaw, ended it with a straight left to the head that put Firtha on his back with 43 seconds gone in the round.
Fields (42-2, 38 KOs) was coming off a loss to Monte Barrett, but was by far the stronger of the two. He dominated from the start and dropped Firtha with a left late in the fifth round.
Fields won the first five rounds on all three judges’ scorecards.
The 6-foot-5 Firtha of Akron, Ohio, dropped to 16-6-1.
