Gag order lifted in Israel activist arrest
JERUSALEM, (UPI) -- An Israeli activist faces charges of fatally stabbing two Palestinians in 1998 and attacking many more, police said after a gag order was lifted Wednesday.

Chaim Pearlman, 29, who also faces weapons accusations, was arrested Tuesday in the latest of a series of detainments on various charges, including waving an Israeli flag on the Temple Mount, beating Palestinians, spraying graffiti and attending illegal demonstrations, Haaretz reported.

Three months ago, he was arrested for allegedly putting up "wanted" posters of former Prime Minister Ehud Olmert and Defense Minister Ehud Barak in Tel Aviv.

Pearlman is alleged to have membership in the right-wing Kach movement advocating the transfer of Israeli Arabs to other countries, the newspaper said.

"The Israeli public is about to witness one of the most embarrassing affairs, which exposes the methods used by security services, who employed invalid means to get the suspect to connect himself to acts to which he has no connection," Pearlman's attorney Adi Keidar said in response to his arrest.
