Girls suffocates with balloon around face
CHICAGO, A 6-year-old Illinois girl died of apparent suffocation when a silver Mylar-type balloon burst and covered her face, police said.
Jayda Jones of Romeoville, Ill., was found unconscious in the family home Tuesday afternoon, The Chicago Tribune reported.
Her father carried her out of the home and was joined by several neighbors in attempts to revive her before paramedics arrived, the newspaper said.
She was transported to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
An autopsy Wednesday confirmed the cause of death as "asphyxia from a Mylar balloon," The Joliet (Ill.) Herald News reported.
