Indies get distributors at Cannes

CANNES, France, (UPI) -- Three indie distributors have picked up a handful of films as the Cannes Film Festival nears its end in France, The Hollywood Reporter said.

IFC Films acquired U.S. rights to director Bertrand Tavernier's "The Princess of Montpensier," indie director Gregg Araki's "Kaboom" and Mexican filmmaker Jorge Michel Grau's debut as a director, "We Are What We Are," the Reporter said.

Sony Pictures Classics picked up U.S., Australian and New Zealand rights to the French film, "Of Gods & Men." In addition, Anchor Bay Entertainment picked up U.S. distribution rights to "Altitude," the supernatural thriller directed by comics artist Kaare Andrews, the Reporter said.
