A preliminary inquiry is scheduled to start Monday for the man accused of murdering Ann Marie Shirran, whose disappearance in St. John's last summer triggered a wide search.
David Folker was charged last September with second-degree murder and with interfering with a body.
Folker had been Shirran's partner, as well as the father of her young son.
The charges were laid after a six-week search in the St. John's area, in which friends and family members appeared for public help in locating a woman they said would never have left her one-year-old boy alone.
Shirran's body was eventually found in early September, in a wooded area about 100 kilometres south of St. John's, near the community of Cappahayden.
Folker, who was charged a few days later, has been on bail since December. He has been living at home in Nova Scotia with his mother.
St. John's lawyer Bob Simmonds is representing Folker.
