KISS rocker Simmons denies alleged assault
LOS ANGELES, (UPI) -- U.S. rocker and reality TV star Gene Simmons says he has filed suit against an ESPN makeup artist who he said falsely accused him of assault.
In a news release, Simmons said he filed suit in Los Angeles Superior Court Friday seeking a judicial declaration that he never assaulted ESPN employee Victoria Jackson. Simmons said he did not even know the woman who, through her attorney, reportedly demanded $185,000 in damages from the KISS co-founder.
Simmons said Jackson made the accusation two months after he and drummer Eric Singer appeared on "ESPN SportsCenter" before a concert last November.
A letter from Jackson's attorney accused Simmons of grinding against her, which caused her to suffer "humiliation, shame, embarrassment, anger, anxiety, loss of sleep and depression," the release said. Jackson's attorney said Simmons could avoid a lawsuit by paying his client $185,000 before May 14, 2010.
Simmons, who stars in the A&E reality series "Gene Simmons Family Jewels" noted his armor-like KISS costume would have made a "grinding" motion impossible.
