McChrystal to retire
WASHINGTON, (UPI) -- Gen. Stanley McChrystal, removed as the top U.S. commander in Afghanistan by President Barack Obama, will retire, an Army spokesman said Monday.

CNN reported Army spokesman Gary Tallman said the four-star general told the Army about his intention to retire, though no date was set.

Obama removed McChrystal from his post last week by after word got out about disparaging comments the general and his staff made about the Obama administration in a Rolling Stone magazine article.

Obama replaced McChrystal with Gen. David Petraeus.
