ST. LOUIS, Jeff Keppinger drove in four runs, including three during a late-game rally, leading the Houston Astros to a 9-4 victory over St. Louis Monday.
The Astros scored three runs in the eighth inning off Mike MacDougall (1-1) and four in the ninth to erase a 4-2 deficit and win going away.
Keppinger delivered an RBI double in the eighth to tie the score 4-4 and added a two-run single in the final frame to turn the game into a rout for Houston, which knocked the Cardinals out of first place in the National League Central. The Cincinnati Reds, who beat Pittsburgh Monday 4-0, lead by a half game.
Chris Johnson added two hits and a pair of RBI for the victors.
Nelson Figueroa (3-1) was credited with the win in relief of starter Brett Myers, who allowed two earned runs on three hits over six innings.
St. Louis starter Jake Westbrook pitched well in his first appearance for the Cards, who obtained him from Cleveland in a weekend trade. The veteran right-hander yielded two runs on four hits in six innings.
Albert Pujols launched his 26th homer of the year for St. Louis.
