NEWARK, N.J., -- Devin Harris scored 29 points Thursday and the New Jersey Nets fought off a Washington comeback to down the Wizards 97-89, ending an eight-game losing streak.
Washington has dropped six in a row and has lost all 13 of its road games this season.
The Wizards overcame a 23-point deficit in the first half to tie it early in the fourth quarter. Washington could never take the lead, however, and the Nets sealed the victory by making 7-of-8 foul shots over the final 29 seconds.
Brook Lopez added 18 points for New Jersey, which had not won since a Nov. 28 victory over Portland.
A home win over Washington was vital for the Nets to prevent the possibility of a much longer skid. Six of New Jersey's next eight games are on the road, where the Nets have won just twice this season, and the two home contests in that stretch are against Orlando and Atlanta.
