Orioles sign closer Accardo
BALTIMORE, -- The Baltimore Orioles say they've signed pitcher Jeremy Accardo to a one-year contract, but did not disclose terms.
The 29-year-old right-hander appeared in five games for Toronto last year, posting a 0-1 record with an 8.10 earned run average. But he spent most of last year at Triple-A Las Vegas, where he went 3-2 in 42 games with 24 saves and a 3.48 ERA.
Accardo has a career big league record of 7-17 with 38 saves in 51 games, and a 3.95 ERA over 204 games in six years with San Francisco and Toronto.
In 2007, he was the Blue Jays closer, with 30 saves in 64 games with a 4-4 record and a 2.14 ERA.
