This afternoon in the House of Commons, the federal government tabled a bill that could end the Canada Post lockout.
If passed and enacted, the back-to-work legislation would return postal employees to their jobs and give an arbitrator 90 days to develop a final settlement.
But a legislated end won't be necessary if the parties - which resumed talks today - can work out an acceptable deal on their own.
Last week the government tabled similar legislation that would have forced striking Air Canada workers back to their posts.
However, an agreement was achieved before the law took effect.
