ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. - After an argument with her boyfriend, a woman fell eight stories to her death, St. Petersburg Police said.

It happened around 3:00 Wednesday morning at the Beacon apartment complex on 3rd Street South. Nicole Brandt, 33, was arguing with her boyfriend, 38-year-old Demian Gabriel DeMartini inside the eighth-floor apartment before the fall.

Authorities were told that Brandt had gone out with friends earlier in the evening and returned home at about 3:00 a.m. When she got home, DeMartini and Brandt reportedly argued over her drinking.

According to DeMartini, he had gone to bed when he heard his girlfriend on the balcony and he went over there to investigate.

He reportedly found her hanging over the side of the balcony with her hands grasping the railing.

He said he tried to grab her by the arms and started to pull her back over when she broke free from his grasp and fell to the pavement below.

Two witnesses outside the apartment confirmed seeing the naked woman hanging from the railing and a man holding on to her, trying to pull her back on to the balcony. It appeared that Brandt slipped from his grasp and fell onto a pool deck.

She was pronounced dead at the scene.

"It looks like she voluntarily went over the side," said police spokesman Mike Puetz. "He was trying to pull her back and she slipped from his grasp."

After being questioned by homicide detectives, DeMartini was allowed to return home and no charges are anticipated at this time.

The investigation is ongoing.
