A Samurai sword aficionado was arrested Saturday in connection to a home invasion on a small Manitoba First Nation, RCMP say.
Just before 6:30 a.m. CT, a man used a sword to stab the door of a home on the Gambler First Nation several times, allowing him to get inside, RCMP said.
Moments after he did, police arrived, and with the help of the people in the home were able to hold and arrest him. The man knew the people who lived in the home, police said.
No one was injured in the altercation.
Further investigation led RCMP to seize five more swords at a home later in the day.
An 18-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged with break and enter with intent to commit an offence, police said. He was held in custody but released on bail Monday.
His next court date is Nov. 22.
Gambler First Nation is located 27 kilometres south of the town of Russell.
