U-verse STBs Receive Energy Star Label

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The set-top boxes used with AT&T's fiber-supported U-verse TV service became the first such units to be certified under the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency's Energy Star program for video providers, the company said last week.

A full 100 percent of U-verse TV receivers - which are manufactured by Motorola and Cisco - meet or exceed the government's energy efficiency requirements. According to AT&T, all deployed U-verse STBs, including those already in subscribers' homes, meet the standard.

EPA's voluntary Energy Star program recognizes CE products that meet strict energy efficiency specifications and is promoted to consumers as a way to reduce their carbon footprint and save money.
