Cold, snow and high winds are headed for Southern Manitoba, including Winnipeg.

Southern Manitoba's relatively mild Christmas weather is about to take a turn for the worse.

Two separate storm systems could bring up to 20 cm of snow later this week.

Environment Canada spokesman Gilles Coulombe said an Alberta clipper will bring two to four cm of snow, starting Wednesday night. And then on Thursday, a Colorado low will smack southern parts of the province — including Winnipeg — in two distinct wallops. "Probably you're going to have 10 to 15 centimeters until Thursday evening, a break, then Friday afternoon it will begin again with 5 to 10 more centimeters throughout Saturday."

It's not just snow in the forecast, but strong north winds in the 40 km/h to 60 km/h range, and much colder air with temperatures hovering in the minus teens and minus 20s, pushing wind chill values to the minus 30s.
