Yingling, head of ABA, to resign
WASHINGTON, (UPI) -- The president and chief executive officer of the American Bankers Association, Edward Yingling, said Wednesday he would resign his post.
Yingling said he timed his departure to coincide with the conclusion of a major lobbying effort for the group, the battle to help shape the 2,300-page financial reform bill.
"Leaving ABA at the end of a Congress with sufficient time to implement a succession plan will ensure the best possible transition," he said, The Hill newspaper reported.
Yingling had been with the ABA for 25 years.
"This is the best time to create the opportunity for new leadership," he said.
As a lobbying group, the ABA represents thousands of U.S. banks.
