I am planning to buy a PC for gaming and it should be cheap, and AMD is cheaper than Intel. Someone also told me that for gaming AMD is a better processor. So help. I need expert advice!

Basically Thereboth the same but intel is alot more expensive. AMD does seem to outlast intel processors, but people usually go for intel because they get more publicity and more people know about them. But all the experts know Amd is the same or a little bit better. Ive been using Amd for 25 years now they havn't let me down yet.

If your desktop is PURELY for gaming, most people recommend AMD.Their Phenom 2 series are probably what you want if you decide to go with AMD CPU's.After recent price cuts the AMD Phenom X3 720 is an extremely good buy -- and also very highly overclockable, if you're into that sort of stuff. If you use your desktop for things other than gaming and need the grunt for synthetics like video encoding, photoshop, CAD etc. the Core i7 is probably what you should get.Intel suits both purposes, but generally Intel CPU's are more expensive -- mainly because they have a monopoly on the high end CPU market.

I am currently doing comp. engg. so i advice you to go for AMD as it is cheaper and graphics of AMD are better than Intel in terms of gaming

amd is cheaper. but if you get the AMD equivilant of an, intel Q6600 for example, it probably wont be as good but much cheaper. but, if you pay the same amount as you did for the Q6600 for AMD, your probably gunna get a better CPU.

Intel is better for gaming, get a P45 board, a E5200 (Pentium Dual-Core), a good fan & heatsink and you can overclock it to 3.33Ghz stable, to get the performance of a Xeon processor.
