I am currently in the process of building a new computer for gaming. It has been almost 5 years since i built my last gaming pc so, im a little out of date on whats best. People argue that intel is better than amd but from what i see intel is hella expensive compared to the same speed and core amd.I frankly dont care for o.c. (overclocking) i know its better if you do it right but ive never learned how.

intel does produce equal power with less wattage used, which in turn = less heat= longer wear

They are both great. Intel is more money because you are paying for a name brand, which in turn assures quality. If it is for gamming I would choose AMD. Even though I love intel, computers these days are advacning quickly. You build a super fast state of art computer today, a better and cheaper one comes out tommarow. Get AMD, cheaper for a faster speed. But you HAVE to play fable III, or else it is a waste.

It's pretty much a wash these days. AMD used to have the upper hand but not anymore. Personally I prefer to only use Intel. Use what your budget will allow. As for motherboards, go Asus. Quality stuff.

I have both for gaming! Intel certainly has the edge on AMD....except in price!...mother boards for AMD are a bit cheaper too! Asus and Gigabyte are the top boards today both make boards for intel and AMD. Its really a matter of "who do you trust more"! The AMD 6 core 1055T runs $199 and is rated right between the Intel Quad core i7-930 ($290) and the i7-920 ($295) with the 930 being better. I bought the 1055T!!!
