What should I go with on my laptop...Intel or AMD processor?

I have found a nice HP laptop with 3gb of memory and 340 gb hard drive with an AMD processor, also 16inch screen. The price is $598, would this be a good deal? I am looking to use the laptop mostly for internet and to download and burn some movies. I have a few people telling me to only buy something with an Intel processor. Any comments would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

for several years i have chosen AMD.do some research and you will find that compared side to side that AMD provides better performance across the board for less money.

between the two i always choose AMD for my rig. better processor for a lower price.

If you don't want to buy Antivirus software and want to spend less money for the same performance, go for the (newer) AMD!If you're willing to buy Antivirus software and are a rich guy who wants videogames to play at the FASTEST PERFORMANCE, can't wait an hour to burn a movie on DVD, and wants to spend all his money on the so-called BEST PROCESSOR, go Intel. And by FASTEST PERFORMANCE, I mean performance over 35 fps, but the HUMAN EYE can only see 30 fps! AMD can achieve 30 fps well.
