What is the difference between AMD Opteron1000 series processors and AMD Phenom processors?

I am using more graphical softwares like 3D,Maya.In my use Maya rendering procedure takes much time.thats why i wont to buy high-end model/-kindly tell me which one is the best for my purpose (opteron or Phenom?)-What is the main difference between above processors.

The OPTERON processor is supposed to work faster at lower temperatures, therefore out preforming the Phenom processor.
