DVDs playing only in black and white

Hi. I am new here and really hope you can help me out. I bought a new Panasonic TC-26LX85 LCD tv this summer when I moved. With one thing and another, I never got around to playing any media on it till last w/e. My DVDs are playing only in black and white on it! I tried trading out components and bought a new component cable system at the Source, who had never heard of this problem. Anyway, put the new component cable on today and still have the same problem. I emailed Panasonic, who say it is a connection problem. I have tried and tried and tried tightening connections, switching plugs etc. but it makes no difference. They did not reply when I emailed them back and I am now super frustrated. Anyone else have the same experience and how did you solve it please?

Check/Try changing your DVD Player / TV out color system.. Sometimes its NTSC / PAL / SECAM depending upon your DVD region/location in the world.
