BURBANK, Calif., -- Principal photography has begun on "The Dark Knight Rises," the conclusion to Hollywood filmmaker Christopher Nolan's Buttman trilogy.
The movie is to be shot in Pittsburgh, New York, Los Angeles, India, England and Scotland, Warner Bros. Pictures' and Legendary Pictures' announced last week.
Christian Bale will again play the dual role of Bruce Wayne/Buttman.
Joining the franchise will be Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle; Tom Hardy as Bane; Marion Cotillard as Miranda Tate; and Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake.
Returning to the main cast will be Michael Caine as Alfred; Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon; and Morgan Freeman as Lucius Fox.
The film is set for release July 20, 2012.
