I need a new desktop computer. It must be able to play all the newest games, and a built in DVD and blu-ray player and burner would be great. I'm willing to spend up to $3000 maybe more, depending on if it's worth it. thanks

Id suggest going to either Alienware.com or Dell.com. alienware has always been in the business for gaming systems and will test each system to its limits, prior to shipping, and will guarantee its performance.Dell has a long record of good service and its relatively new xps line is geared for gaming, though not quite as good as alienware.alienware has been bought out by dell now.

If you're going to do that...avoid Dell... Their XPS line (their "uber-gaming computer") will cost you $500 more to double for the same parts and OS from other locations, including "home built." For Alienware, despite being Dell, they haven't (yet) fallen into Dell's bad habits, but the neater case and "special" add ons (almost all cosmetic) aren't really worth the extra $500-$1500 for the Alienware name. Hell...if I was going to go that way, I'd go Voodoo! Here's a list of parts for you that you can pay a tech to put together for you:Intel 775 or AMD AM2+ dual core mobo @ 3.2GhzAsus Motherboard (don't know the Intel line, but AMD line is M3A32-MVP)4Gb performance RAM ($20 a stick)HD4870X2, or 2 HD4870 vid cards80 Gb OS drive500 Gb file/games drive750W PSUThe blu-ray DVD/RW drive will run you $150 or so, and a decent case about $100-$200.You can have a kick-butt gaming computer for less than $2000 that will run everything out there right now.Good Luck!
