Is there a significant difference between DDR2 and DDR3 when it comes to gaming?

Someone asked this question before, but it was two years ago. Just wondering if things changed.

No, it just depends on how many Gb it actually is. When it comes down to it, it is not a big difference, you would never know if you had DDR2 or DDR3 without looking at the specs. With that said, I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Yes.The speeds of RAM that have been created are over 2x faster than what was around 2 years ago.DDR2 I believe has a fastest speed of around the 800-900MHz mark, while the fastest DDR3 ram i as fast as 1600MHz, which is pretty quick compared to the best of DDR2.I have 1066Hz DDR3 in my laptop and that is fast enough, way faster than the DDR2 in my old desktop.... than again, hard to compare when its old.But for normal use, you won't notice too much of a difference, progams and internet pages etc will load faster than with slower RAM, but for gaming, an increase in frame rate and overall performance will be noticed.

Umm yes! DDR2 is has been around for a while and they can run up to 800 mbps of ram speeds. DDR3 is going to become a new ram standard for speeds as they can run up to 1600 mbps. That's pretty much twice as fast than DDR2. The best thing is that if you're running a Windows 7 operating system at 4GB you won't need to upgrade for a while. Plus, DDR3 is quite expensive also, but it's worth it. You may or may not notice the difference now in regular programs but in high performance gaming, games will most certainly run smooth, that's of course if you have a good processor. Remember that DDR3 means more data speed and more data speed means better gaming performance.
