I 'm hoping to get a present for my kid. He is wishing for an OCZ SSD 120 I plan to order it from NCIX, and it claims the SSDs is SATA 2. I've been reading through (as well as learning much) and I learned where to get this system board information and model number. It seems to use SATA 1. I realize at this point should I invest a SSD and it'll be considerably speedier, should his machine features SATA 2. I know that it will work utilizing standard SATA 1 however it will not be as fast. Whatever aid in this would be considerably valued. I am unable to purchase an entirely brand new system for him and this is less difficult and will keep him satisfied. Until such time as I'm able to manage a new system.

I ran an application known as CPUZ to obtain this data:

MB: MSI K9N6PGM2-V2
Chipset: NVIDIA® MCP61P (6150SE)

The SSD which I know he prefers is the OCZ OCZSSD2-2VTXE120G Vertex 2 2.5" 120GB SATA II or the OCZ OCZSSD3-2VTX180G Vertex 2 180GB.

If someone with significantly more technological know how can inform me if his computer has SATA 2 that would be terrific and I'd be honestly be grateful, or possibly there isn't anything I could invest in such as PCIe card to perform as SATA 2?

He and I Appreciate it!
I know it would work regardless of whether it is SATA 3 or other wise. I just want to know for sure if the computers mother board is SATA 2 or not SATA 1. So he can have maximum performance from the SSD.

Does this computer motherboard support SATA II?

SATA 1, 2 and 3 are actually all backwards and forwards compatible.

Which means that it would run on all SATA 1, SATA 2 as well as SATA 3...

Does this computer motherboard support SATA II?

I attempted to locate info that the system board was really SATA II, and I identified that YES it's a SATA II board.

This link below will provide the details, be sure to on "Detail Specification" view and you scroll down a little:

http://www.msi.com/product/mb/K9N6PGM2-V2-FOR-EUP-.html#?div=Detail

Here is the theoretical bandwidth of the 3 ports:
SATA I: 1.5 Gb/s
SATA II: 3.0Gb/s
SATA III: 6.0Gb/s

In the future just assume that its SATA I whenever it does not state, so I would take worst tech.

You can get an SATA III adapter as long as you have an available pci or pcie slot, but its not needed in your case.
