Michaels to perform after Vegas marathon
LAS VEGAS, (UPI) -- Bret Michaels has signed on to perform at a Las Vegas concert for the runners participating in a benefit for the Crohn's & Colitis Foundation of America.

The rocker and reality TV star has been treated for a brain hemorrhage, warning stroke, hole in his heart and emergency appendectomy since April.

He is scheduled to perform for the more than 30,000 runners at the Zappos.com Rock 'n' Roll Las Vegas Marathon and 1/2 Marathon Dec. 5.

Race participants are expected to span across all eight lanes of Las Vegas Boulevard, shutting down the Las Vegas Strip. Michaels will take the stage at the finish line immediately following the race, organizers said.

"Vegas, rock 'n' roll and Bret Michaels are the perfect combination -- a triple threat sure to wow runners and spectators alike," Peter Englehart, chief executive officer of the Competitor Group, said in a statement. "We're offering participants an unparalleled rock 'n' roll experience on multiple levels. Where else can you run down the most exhilarating street in America, get up close and personal with a rock 'n' roll legend and stay to play in the ultimate adult playground?"

Michaels' new studio album "Custom Built" is scheduled to be released July 6 and a concert tour is planned.

"He has made it clear he is sick and tired of being in the hospital and is ready to rock again," Michaels' representative, Janna Elias, said in a statement.
