you can use Linksys, Netgear and any number of them, there really isnt much difference between them.I like Linksys, probably only because I have seen more in work places.

Well this depends on how far the computers are apart in each room and how many walls the signal has to pass through to reach the other computer.Brand wise linksys is a good choice for simplicity and out of the box connectivity. But I would HIGHLY recommend you run the software for it to secure your router and the computer it will be talking to remotely to prevent someone from hijacking your connection. If you know your computers are going to be far away (i.e. multiple walls and possible metal or electronic interference.) I would recommend you get the antenna upgrade kit they sell for the linksys routers. Also it might be good to get a wireless repeater to boost the strength of the signal to the other machine without having to put the router in a area that is high traffic or might be kicked a lot (good for if you have a laptop and you want to take it outside or in a back yard for example)

Linksys, User friendly, easy setup with other linksys products, super range( especially with better antennas), great tech support, easy to update firmware, good firewall options available on some models for added security.

They come in all kinds and shapes. You have first to decide on what you need. Should it have a printer server or ADSL modem, LAN connections, firewall, USB port etc. etc.? Should I have asked you which is the best brand for a shampoo, you would of come with a series of questions: hair type, color, washing frequency, conditioner etc. Buying a router is not that different from buying a shampoo; you have to define your problem. Then you go on a site (e.g. thetechzone.com) and read some reports. Linksys. US Robotics, ASUS, Belkin, Netgear etc. all produce hundreds of routers some better than others and some not. When you make a comparison you make sure you have similar products. There is no one here who can decide for you.
