I connected my notebook to my router by an Ethernet cable (I heard it was faster). I would like to turn off the wireless so my notebook is only connect by the cable, how can I do this?

  1. Open a your favorite web browser.
  2. Click on the address bar and type in 192.168.1.1 and then hit enter.

This should bring up your router control panel page. In here you can set and change all of your routers settings.

Find you WiFi setting page and you may be able to set if from there.

Note: Some routers do not let you turn off the WiFi.

If 192.168.1.1 does not work try one of these.

Another easier option is if you look on the side of you laptop, most have a wireless on/off switch. Turn it off!

Of course this will not turn the routers WiFi off, but the router's WiFi will still be there if you need it later.
