How To Convert From PUFF To LZMA As Of 1-28-09

Following is a detailed description of how to load the 1.0.3 boot file and V207 bin file. This assumes the receiver is already using PUFF files and will use Lzma files after following these steps.

1. Connect satellite receiver to computer using straight thru serial cable.

2. Launch UkRoNiC’s BOX Updater .421.exe loader program. Be sure to use .421 program, NOT .420 program

3. Click on BIN FILE and select –PUFF-boot_Ver 1.0.3.bin file

4. Click on BOOT FILE ONLY button in the loader

5. Turn the switch on the back of the receiver to the ON position and WAIT for the LED readout on the front of the receiver to say ON or show a channel number. You must wait for the receiver to say ON or show a channel number.

6. Click on the DOWNLOAD button in the loader and WAIT for the receiver to reboot and show P.U.F.F P.U.F.F The display will stop and stay on the last F. (make sure the dots between the P.U.F.F letters are there. If no dots, 1.0.3 did not load).

7. Turn the switch on the back of the receiver to the OFF position

8. Close UkRoNiC’s BOX Updater .421.exe loader

9. Launch UkRoNiC’s BOX Updater .420.exe loader program. Be sure to use .420 program, NOT .421 program.

10. Click on Select Bin button and select Fwank7_Jvvh-Team-PUFF_(Lzma)_V207 BIN file

11. Turn the switch on the back of the receiver to the ON position and when you see the first P in the LED display of the receiver, click the Write Bin button in the loader and WAIT for the receiver to reboot, the LED display on the receiver will show P.U.F.F. P.U.F.F. then pause on F. for about 10 seconds, then briefly show 75, then ON and then channel number if you have channels already scanned into the receiver.

If the files doesn't load, check your COM port setting. Laptops with external USB to serial converters can sometimes be a problem. When possible use a computer with a built-in serial port.
