BAKLAVA

1 lb. walnuts, chopped
1 tsp. cinnamon
2 tbsp. butter, melted
1/4 c. Wheatena or Farina
1 lb. butter, melted
1 lb. filo dough
1 c. sugar
1 c. water
1/2 c. honey
juice of 1/2 lemon

You will need a 10 x 15-inch pan, pastry brush and electric knife.

Combine the 2 tablespoons melted butter, cinnamon and farina in a pan. Mix. Add this to chopped walnuts.

Butter the pan. Place 1 of the filo in the pan and butter with a pastry brush. Place 4 more of the filo in the pan, buttering each one. Add 1/2 cup of the nut mixture. Place 3 more of the filo in the pan, buttering each one. Add 1/2 cup of the nut mixture. Continue until all of the nuts are gone and 5 of the filo remain. Use 5 of the filo as the top, buttering each one. Put any unused butter all over the top. Using an electric knife, cut the filo into diamond shapes.

Bake at 400°F for 15 minutes. Lower oven temperature to 325°F and bake for 1 hour more.

Boil sugar, water, honey and lemon. Let cool. Pour cool syrup over hot Baklava. Let sit 2 hours, then re-cut and serve. Enjoy!
