'Thick of It' wins big at BAFTAs

LONDON, (UPI) -- "The Thick of It" swept the sitcom categories at the British Academy of Film and Television Arts television awards ceremony in London.

The show was named best sitcom and its stars, Rebecca Front and Peter Capaldi, picked up the BAFTAs for female and male performance in a comedy role.

"Misfits" was declared best drama series, Kenneth Branagh best leading actor for the miniseries "Wallander" and Julie Walters best leading actress for the bio-picture "Mo."

TV presenters Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly earned the gong for best entertainment performance as hosts of "I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!"

"Britain's Got Talent" was named best entertainment program and its creator, Simon Cowell, took home a special award for outstanding contribution and development of new talent.

Comedian Graham Norton presided over the BAFTA ceremony Sunday at the London Palladium.
