Racing tugs to take to Detroit River
DETROIT, (UPI) -- The focus in Detroit this weekend is on the river front where the fourth-annual River Days are being celebrated.
Along with food, music and fireworks, festival-goers also got to take in the 32nd annual International Tugboat Race Saturday from near the Ambassador Bridge in Detroit to near Dieppe Park in Windsor, Ontario, The Detroit News reported.
Tugboat racing was a loosely-organized sport on the river in the 1950s, with the current series starting in 1976.
